Making Central Virginia Safer for Walking, Biking, and Driving
The Central Virginia Planning District Commission (CVPDC) was awarded a grant to develop the Central Virginia Safety Action Plan to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries for all road users in Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell Counties, as well as the City of Lynchburg.
The survey is now closed, but you can view the map comments left by others.
Participants identified specific locations of concern by placing markers on the map, highlighting issues related to pedestrian safety, speeding, bicycle safety, accessibility, lighting, and visibility. To explore these comments, zoom in on the map or enter an address into the search bar.
A public engagement report summarizing the survey findings will be included in the Safety Action Plan. The insights gathered will help shape a Regional Safety Action Plan integrated across the four E’s of roadway safety—Engineering, Education, Enforcement, and Emergency Response.
